The warranty tracking system implementation in the Alexus Maintenance system provides a mechanism that allows units and components in the system to be associated with warranty information. The association of a unit or component with a warranty life cycle helps your fleet identify potential repairs or replacements that could be warranty claims from the component manufacturers. The result: your fleet does not perform repairs on units that are still under normal or extended warranty schedules unknowingly.

In the warranty sub system, any equipment or component can be associated with a warranty schedule. For example, the engine of a truck might be under a 5 year 500,000 mile warranty schedule. However, a certain component of the same truck could be under a 6 year 600,000 mile warranty schedule. The system offers tremendous flexibility in this area.

Key Features

The warranty sub system is initialized on entry of information in the Unit ID, Mileage, and Reason for Repair sections of the work order. The system is then scanned to perform the following checks and alerts:

Obtain the Model and Purchase Date (or date in service) of the equipment based on the equipment identification from the equipment information section.
Check the mileage entered against the highest mileage for the equipment and its associated components in the warranty tables. If the mileage entered is below the warranty mileage set up in the system, then warranty conditions apply.
Check the Purchase Date (or date in service) against the current date and cross reference against the warranty life specified for the equipment in the warranty sub system.
Alert if the equipment is under warranty
Provide options to view warranty schedule, Exit or Override and create a warranty work order.
Create a Warranty Claim for major manufacturers

All the above processes are carried out transparent to the user.
